Adult Psychiatrist
Jose Herrera, M.D., ABPN-C
Dr. Jose Herrera is a dedicated psychiatrist who graduated with his M.D. from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed his residency at MSU. With over a decade as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at MSU, Dr. Herrera specializes in inpatient and outpatient care, correctional psychiatry, sports psychiatry, and addiction medicine. He is excited be with MOOD. Mental Health as the next generation of mental health services, focused on transforming lives and advancing the field of psychiatry.
Outside of work, Dr. Herrera enjoys traveling the U.S., live music and the arts.

Nurse Practitioner
Morgan George, PMHNP-BC
Morgan is a passionate and dedicated board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. Having worked closely with patients across a range of clinical settings, she brings a wealth of hands-on knowledge and a heartfelt commitment to her patients' mental health and wellness. As an expertly trained MOOD. Mental Health PMHNP, Morgan's goal is to create a supportive and collaborative environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered in their treatment journey. Through a combination of evidence-based medication management, therapeutic support, and life style focused interventions, Morgan strives to help individuals build resiliance, improve daily functioning, and achieve lasting wellness.
Outside of work, Morgan loves connecting with nature. Whether hiking, tending to her garden, or traveling to breathtaking scenic destinations, she is always inspired by the beauty of the world around her. She also cherishes time spent with her family and her golden retriever. Morgan looks forward to making a positive impact and walking alongside patients on their paths to wellness.​​​​​​​

Nurse Practitioner
Lauren Sharp, PMHNP-BC
Lauren has worked as a nurse since 2019. In that time, she gained experience in a number of different capacities. These include working as a nurse on a Critical Care Step Down Unit and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, as a public health nurse, and as a psychiatric nurse for populations ranging from children to adolescents to adults to geriatric patients.
Prior to her extensive nursing career, Lauren began her undergraduate studies at Saginaw Valley State University where she starred on the tennis team. Lauren completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She returned to school later to follow her passion for mental health, attending Wayne State University and graduating with honors.
Now, having become a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Lauren is passionate about providing patient-centered care that meets patients where they are at physically, mentally, and emotionally.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys doing interior design, long distance running, and spending time with her fiance and fur babies.

Physician Associate
​Kenneth M. Gorney, A.S., B.S., M.S.W., M.S.,PA-C
Ken joins our practice with a passion to improve the quality of life for those he cares for. He brings a blend of clinical depth and compassionate care to Mood, with a combined 30 years in psychiatry—over 25 of them clinical, as both an MSW and PA. A Jackson, Michigan native, he holds degrees from Jackson College(psychology), Michigan State University(family and child Ecology), The University of Michigan (M.S.W., geriatric interpersonal therapy), and the University of Detroit Mercy (Physician Assistant Studies).
A former U.S. Army combat medic, Ken has a deep commitment to caring for veterans and their families, and his experience spans internal medicine, emergency medicine, and urgent care. His professional interests include longevity medicine, peptides and alternative health, weight management, nutrition and personal-training. He also serves as a clinical preceptor and adjunct professor across several Michigan PA programs.
Outside the clinic, Ken has been married to his wife, Lisa, since 1997, and they have four children and many pets. He's an avid outdoorsman and gym-goer who enjoys golf, fishing, gardening,home improvement, traveling, and weightlifting. He's excited to bring his decades of experience and passion for whole-person health to the Mood team.

MOOD. Operations Officer
Lauren Thomann
Lauren brings over 10 years of experience in outpatient mental health operations, with a strong background in practice management, intake coordination, staff support, workflow improvement, and multi-site practice operations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Michigan–Flint, along with associate degrees in Business, Accounting, and Sociology from Lansing Community College. Throughout her career, Lauren has supported behavioral health teams by helping practices run more smoothly, improving patient access, strengthening administrative processes, and creating systems that allow providers and staff to focus more fully on patient care.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and making time for the people who matter most to her, including family, friends, and her dog. She values calm, meaningful moments and appreciates opportunities to recharge through connection, nature, and a good book.

Lauren is excited to join MOOD because she believes in the importance of creating a mental health care experience that feels welcoming, organized, and supportive from the very first point of contact. She is passionate about building strong behind-the-scenes systems that help both patients and providers feel cared for. Lauren looks forward to being part of MOOD’s growth and contributing to a team focused on providing thoughtful, patient-centered mental health care.

MOOD. Associate / Medical Assistant
Jolie Rish
Jolie holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and has hands-on experience in mental health care, having worked as a psychiatric technician in an inpatient mental health hospital. Her passion for understanding how the brain works and her commitment to making a difference in people's lives drive her work at MOOD. Jolie finds joy in helping others and is excited to bring her compassion and expertise to the team.
Outside of work, she loves reading, spending time with her family, and expressing her creativity through cooking and baking.

Practice Manager
Debbie Kolk
Debbie brings over 36 years of experience in healthcare to MOOD. Mental Health. After retiring from a long and successful career at Michigan State University's West Fee Clinic, she joined MOOD. Mental Health to continue her passion for supporting mental health services in the Greater Lansing area. Debbie loves working in the psychiatry field and is dedicated to helping expand access to innovative and compassionate care.
When she’s not at work, you can find Debbie enjoying time at the casino, shopping with her sister, or doting on her two chihuahuas, Alvin and Theodore.
